DOWCLENE™* 1601 makes the grade in additional ASTM tests

Another milestone for the modified alcohol DOWCLENE™* 1601: It has now seized official confirmation on its compatibility with the parts cleaning process in aviation in a series of independent tests.

With the approval for ASTM F-945 already under its belt, DOWCLENE™* 1601 has also passed the following tests, which have been conducted by an approved aviation laboratory:

ASTM F519 - ASTM F1110 - ASTM F2111 - ASTM F1111 - ASTM F483

DOWCLENE™* 1601 is already approved by the likes of Rolls-Royce, Safran and Collins Aerospace as well as other leading aerospace component manufacturers.

"This is a fantastic news for DOWCLENE™* 1601! Given the high quality demands on aviation manufacturing, manufacturers need to be able to achieve the exacting technical cleanliness required – all while ensuring compliance with worker safety and environmental protection. With the official approvals, aviation customers can count on DOWCLENE™* 1601’s ability in helping them meet the most stringent requirements in their parts cleaning process," commented Richard Starkey, Industry Manager, Aviation, SAFECHEM.

Thanks to their non-polar and partially polar properties, modified alcohols such as DOWCLENE™* 1601 can remove oils and greases just as effectively as certain polar contaminations like cooling emulsions or solids such as particles and abrasives. Another distinct advantage of modified alcohols is the ease to monitor and stabilize the media for increased process stability.

The use of modified alcohols in modern closed cleaning technology can ensure – in addition to achieving the required level of cleanliness on a consistent basis – a reliable process, environmental compliance, low waste volumes, and above all else, miniscule solvent consumption.

Particularly for aviation companies confronted with cleaning challenges such as high throughputs, complex component structures and demanding cleaning specifications, DOWCLENE™* 1601 can help them achieve optimal cleaning results with increased process safety and resource efficiency.
