SENSENE™ unites the strong cleaning performance of Perchloroethylene (Perc) with the gentleness of hydrocarbon. This makes SENSENE™ the ultimate solution for dry cleaners seeking for excellent cleaning performance while treating textiles gently.

WHAT MAKES SENSENE™ ONE OF A KIND?
SENSENE™ has a high Kauri Butanol (KB) value (used commonly as an indicator to rate the “power” of solvents) of 161. Alternative solvents on the market have a KB-value under 80.
With both lipophilic (“fat-loving”) and hydrophilic (“water-loving”) groups, SENSENE™ can dissolve both non-polar and polar stains. It is particularly effective on oil, fat, lanoline, sebum, milk, lipstick and motor oil.
Because of its superior stain removal ability, SENSENE™ reduces the need for most additional pre and post-treatment, saving you time, efforts and costs. Its high cleaning performance also makes shorter cleaning cycles possible.
The good distillation behavior of SENSENE™ helps save energy in the distillation process and enables an effective drying process.
The Certification Body ECOCERT Greenlife has positively assessed SENSENE™ as a "GOTS approved additive" in line with the applicable criteria of Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) – Version 6.0. Accordingly, SENSENE™ can be used for application in the processing of GOTS certified textile products.
SENSENE™ GREAT IN EVERY SENSE
SENSENE™ can be used in regular multi-solvent machines (machines complying with CLASS III A solvents). SENSENE™ works with leading Original Equipment Manufacturers around the world. Please ask your manufacturer whether your machine type has been certified for SENSENE™.
Like many other solvents, SENSENE™ is not yet part of the Care Labelling Standard ISO 3758. However, dry cleaners’ experience show that it can comply with the two established cleaning processes:
- P normal cleaning process without any restrictions
- F gentle cleaning process for delicate garments.
NOTE: Certain restrictions concerning temperature, humidity and mechanics might be required in the process. A trial on a concealed part of the article is strongly recommended beforehand. Drycleaners must also take into account the nature of the textile and the degree of soiling when deciding on the cleaning process.

SENSENE™ QUESTIONS ON YOUR MIND
SENSENE™ can be used in regular multi-solvent machines, often referred to as machines complying with CLASS III A solvents. It can also run in existing hydrocarbon machines, provided that it is explicitly approved by machine manufacturers. We would always recommend you consult your machine manufacturer whether your machine type has been certified for SENSENE™.
This will strongly depend on the operating process. Based on customer feedback, the range reported is anywhere between 95 – 168 Kg/Litre (800 – 1400 pounds/gallon) in new machines.
The cycle length is dependent on various factors including the machine construction, cleaning process (1 or 2-bath programs) and load etc. Compared to hydrocarbons, SENSENE™ can run shorter cleaning cycles between 55 and 65 minutes. In contrast, some hydrocarbon programs typically last around 90 minutes.
Machine maintenance efforts are far easier as the stable formulation of SENSENE™ keeps even your cleaning machine clean by minimizing bacteria accumulation. Due to its dual characteristic (hydrophilic and lipophilic groups), SENSENE™ has a certain affinity to water and therefore some degree of solubility in contact water. Since machine construction and features differ among machine manufacturers, it is an essential requirement that you consult your machine producer on how this solubility is best handled.
SENSENE™ has nearly the same working basis as Perc. Operators do not have to change their habits since any previous knowledge about cleaning and spotting with Perc is easily transferable to SENSENE™. There are no noticeable differences in spotting procedure, with the only difference being that SENSENE™ allows more flexibility with water, which dramatically reduces human errors. SENSENE™ also reduces the need to pre-treat and has substantially lower incidents and re-cleaning requirements, compared to other solvents.
Thanks to its innovative composition, the cleaning process with SENSENE™, in general, requires less additives. Most customers report that they need less or no detergent (soap) and that they are doing a lot less or in some cases, no pre-spotting. Naturally, certain stains and residues might require pre- or post-treatment, most often these stains would need to be treated in all applications of dry cleaning. We recommend spotting agents that are tested and validated for SENSENE™.
